Electronic price tags for the Huber butchery
Better readability, less paper, faster price updates: the eight branches of the Huber butchery around the Swabian town of Geisenhausen now show the prices of their specialties electronically.
At the beginning, the focus was on two goals. Firstly, it should be possible to update the price labels used in the store counters more quickly and without much personnel effort from the head office. Secondly, a reliable connection of the labels to the already existing POS system was required. After thorough consultation with the e-shelf-labels sales team, the choice fell on 2.2 inch labels from SES-imagotag's VUSION range.
Because of the variety of specialties in the display, choosing the right label size was especially important. The 2.2 inch display area can show the name, base weight and price of two products at a time. Legibility remains superbly sharp and contrasty. Battery life is optimized to provide enough power for up to 10,000 updates on the labels. The approximately 200 e-ink labels per store are wirelessly connected to each other and to the POS system, communicating via the user-friendly VUSION cloud. Now, special offers such as daily specials, price changes or product changes can be easily controlled centrally from one place, thus enormously reducing the time and personnel required and the resulting costs. The automatically adjustable price reduction for the sale of leftover goods at the end of the day is particularly advantageous for catering companies.
Hygienic mounting important
When attaching the new E-Ink labels, the two owners Karl-Heinz and Franz Huber attached particular importance to hygiene and a tidy overall impression. This is made possible by the use of transparent mounting rails that extend along the entire length of the display. By positioning them in front of a glass pane, the products do not get into direct contact with the electronic pricetags, which guarantees the cleanliness of the labels and food safety.
