Hungary – Hungarian tool retailer Puma Tools, which specialises in supplying workshops, service companies and private customers in the automotive sector, has been using SoluM's smart Newton product family since 2022 – a total of almost 10,000 digital price tags have been installed in the shop.
The innovative labels with integrated 7-colour LEDs specifically help employees to efficiently compile webshop orders while keeping an eye on stock levels and shelf replenishment directly on the spot. The added value is particularly evident during high-traffic promotions such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday: Hundreds of products can be marked for the campaign at the touch of a button – previously, this was severely limited by manual paper labels. The time saved frees up capacity for more important tasks such as online order processing and customer service.
The system also offers a noticeable advantage for customers in the shop: targeted LED signals on the shelves allow them to find the items they are looking for quickly and easily. A glimpse into the future is already available, as Puma Tools is actively working on linking the digital labels to a virtual shopping basket. This would allow customers to compile their desired products digitally in advance and be guided directly to the corresponding items via LED when they enter the shop.
Puma Tools is a compelling example of how digital retail technologies are successfully modernising traditional retail processes – with benefits for both employees and customers.
